Patricia Ann Wood

Patricia was born in Farnworth, near Bolton, in the North West of England in 1956 and is one of ten children.  She cannot remember a time when she did not draw and paint and always enjoyed being creative throughout her school days.  She moved to Oldham in her late teens and continued to enjoy producing art on an amateur level whilst working full time.  Over the past few years she has committed more of her time to her artwork and taken part in many local exhibitions.  She became a member of the SAA (Society for All Artists) in  2008 and Bolton Art Circle in 2009.

A self-taught artist, Patricia works in a variety of mediums, primarily in watercolour and pencil.  She enjoys depicting a variety of subjects from landscapes to portraits.  She works from home and gains inspiration from the beauty of the surrounding area of Saddleworth.  Many of her works portray more distant lands around the world using reference photographs taken by family and friends.

Patricia has recently created illustrations for a number of children’s books and is never afraid of a new challenge!  Her husband, Bernard and grown-up children Emma and Neill have all encouraged her to take her art further.  When she is not busy creating her art she loves to read, play the piano, cycle and travel.

Patricia has recently set up a weekly art class in Lees, Oldham for beginners, to help them to learn techniques and tips to paint using watercolours. Also, from April 2013, Pat has been offering day workshops in Egerton, Bolton and Lees, Oldham where she guides students through easy to follow steps to produce a watercolour painting in a day. See 'Workshops and Classes' page for more details.

Patricia was chosen as 'Overall winner' in the 2011 Oldham Parish Church exhibition. After being presented with her prize by Oldham Mayor, the photo and text below appeared in the local newspaper.
